Has anyone ever video taped their dog while at work?
I want to know what my pooch does all day when i’m at work. I would love to setup a video camera to see. I’m sure he sleeps most of the day but sometimes I come home to things on the floor and look on his face that tells me he was up to something. Have you ever video taped or spied on your pooch???
I think the web cam idea is great! I even have a camera for my XBox 360 I can tape him with, since my computer, xbox and pooch are all in the same room! Great! Thanks for the great ideas!

Yes I did actually, I have a web cam on my laptop and I set it up when I went out, what I witnessed was her howling on my bed for about 30 seconds, then I heard her grabbing the garbage bag and tearing it open and all the items spilling out then she proceeded to climb on my bed with a can and eat the contents right on my bed in front of the web cam.
Other times she’s grabbed my shoes and put them on my bed, curled up and gone to sleep for hours only getting up to woof at something adjust positions and then go back to sleep.
P.S. the garbage bag was my fault I forgot to take it downstairs when I left. Couldn’t blame her for ripping it open, I thought she wouldnt’ touch it but I was wrong.

Haha, no, but I heard of a lady who video taped her house while at work to catch robbers. She set up the camera at her work desk so she could see if anybody came into her home. She actually caught 2 guys! Her dog did nothing to the robbers, it just ran, Lol. Let me see if I can find the clip for you…
ADD:
Man, I really can’t find the clip! It’s a TYT (TheYoungTurks) clip on YouTube.

No, I haven’t, but I might if I had money for the equipment haha. I know I’d need a few different cameras for the different rooms in my house.. I’m sure it would be interesting!!

Nope, but I want to one day! I’m curious to see what he does while we’re gone. I bet he just whines for a few minutes and then eventually sleeps… still, I’m un-sure so I’d like to see one day.

No & it would be pointless, because if I’m gone for a while & my dogs cannot go with me, they are crated. However when I leave them with my husband, he says they will quietly wait for my return & one of them even sits in the window watching for my car to pull up in the driveway.
My dogs aren’t allowed full run of the house while everyone is gone. I trust them, but I don’t expect them to hold down the fort either. In my opinion, crating helps with so many issues later on down the road if people would just begin properly crate training their dogs from the start they would weed out a lot of the conflict they have when leaving their dogs behind.
My dogs see their crates as a time to relax & wait appropriately for my return. Their crates calm them & they associate their crates with sleeping, therefore I feel it is the best & safest place for them to be when not under supervision.

We didn’t video tape our dog, but when we first got him, and we had to start leaving him for 1/2 days (8:30-12, I come home at lunch, 1-4:30) my husband set up the "Dexter cam".
Our dogs play pen was set up in-front of my husband’s desk, and his iMac has a built in camera. Hw set it up to take a picture every 60 seconds and upload it to his websites server. He set up a special link for me to go in and see the pictures to check on him (only every-other picture was saved, but you could refresh every 60 seconds to see each picture as it happened).
It was comforting for the first week, but also pretty boring since the dog just went to his crate and slept for the entire time. Sometimes he would get up to pee (he was in a play pen area with a puppy pad) around 10:30, but other than that, he just slept. And once he was 4 months old he could hold his bladder the whole 4 hours so he stopped waking up to pee anyway. The Dexter cam lasted less than a month.

No. I don’t have time to fart around at work on webcam, and when I get home, I want to get stuff done, play with my dogs, run them, etc. so I don’t have time to watch 8 hours of video.
If your dog gets into stuff, it’s best to either crate him or put up a barricade of some sort and section him off to a safe area.
